These days it seems like everyone is rocking the vote when it comes to really, really important decisions...like snack flavors?! From Lays to Oreos, America’s favorite snack companies are hosting eater’s choice awards in order to come up with their latest and greatest flavors.
This past Summer, Auntie Anne’s (makers of those delicious, giant soft pretzels that you find at the mall) decided to get in on the action! They asked their social media fans to select a new limited release pretzel, Pretzel Nation Creation. After receiving more than 1,200 suggestions via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, they narrowed it down to the ten most popular entries and asked Pretzel Nation to vote.
Over 1.3 million votes later, Sriracha came out on top! Not only did Sriracha win, it crushed the competition...beating the ultra sweet and chocolatey choice, S’mores, by over 200,000 votes and the tart, tangy and downright disgusting choice, Pink Lemonade, by 635,000 votes (seriously, how did that even make the top ten??...I can only imagine what some of the other 1,200 suggestions were!)
Anyhow, the other (much more appetizing) finalists included, Taco, Buffalo Wings, Maple Brown Sugar, Korean BBQ, Apple Pie, Chocolate Cherry and Dill Pickle.
The new Sriracha Pretzels are joining Original, Cinnamon Sugar, Sweet Almond, Sour Cream & Onion, Pepperoni, Roasted Garlic & Parmesan, Jalapeno and Raisin on the Auntie Anne’s menu. They are dusted with a spicy red Sriracha powder that may leave you licking your fingers (make sure you wash your hands before you touch your eyes) or going back for seconds!
No time to sit down and snack? No problem! For all of you on-the-go mall walkers, Auntie Anne’s has also added Sriracha Pretzel Nuggets to their menu. Definitely bringing some spice to their Pretzel Nugget selections which already includes Original, Cinnamon Sugar and Pepperoni.
Of course, diehard Sriracha lovers everywhere are crossing their fingers that this spicy new flavor gets put on the Auntie Anne’s menu permanently. Or, at the very least, they could include good ole Sriracha to their Pretzel Dips selection which now includes Caramel Dip, Cheese Dip, Hot Salsa Cheese Dip, Melted Cheese Dip, Lite Cream Cheese Dip (for the love of God, what’s up with all of the cheese?!), Marinara Dip, Sweet Glaze Dip and Sweet Mustard Dip.
If not, at least we’ll always have our Sriracha keychains and packets (shameless plug!) to facilitate our wildest soft pretzel fantasies (oh, you know what I mean...get your mind out of the gutter!).
The limited edition, spicy Sriracha Pretzels and Pretzel Nuggets are available now (while supplies last). Auntie Anne’s has over 1,700 locations in 48 states and in more than 25 countries!
